Here are my TOP TIPS to hep you towards finding a happier healthier lifestyle:
TIP 1 - Shift your Perspective - All to often these days we are focused on people who have more than us and are doing more than us which has the tendancy to make us feel less than happy. If instead we were to focus on people who had less than us then this would automatically make you feel more appreciative of what you do have and what you should be feeling happy about right now.
TIP 2 - Don't Confuse Happiness For Pleasure - It is important then to be clear about the difference between pleasure, which is often a short term thing and real happiness which is a long term more robust thing.
TIP 3 - Look for the signals you are on the right track - One important aspect of being happy is to be doing what makes you happy and to find your life's purpose....sometimes life sends us little signs of what we should be doing and we just have to see the signs.
TIP 4 - Rest assured that happiness is hard wired into us - By being aware that deep down you are naturally preprogrammed to experience happiness it takes a bit of pressure off you. How you are now can be changed if given time and effort. All you have to do is create an environment and a lifestyle in which to help your natural self come out.
TIP 5 - Don't become lonely...Connect more! - It has been proven scientifically that people who have more intimate contact with more human beings are far less likely to suffer with diseases such as cancer and heart disease, so while your diet may be getting better (you hope) by alienating yourself from those friends and supportive people around you, you can actually be doing yourself harm in other areas of your health. Your emotional health is just as important as your physical health, if not more so.
TIP 6 - Distinguish from Raw Romanticism and Raw Enlightenment - We have all been caught up relationships that maybe started with great need for romanticism but in the long run dies because the basics weren't there and the initial romantic notions died out over time leaving nothing of substance underneath. Rather like a hot house being built on ice foundations..soon as the ice melts the house crumbles.
TIP 7 - New Perspectives & Flexible Thinking - It's a weird phenomenon, but sometimes people who on one hand seem really open mined and ready to question everything about their current belief systems and who get into raw food and alternative health, once there suddenly become fixed in their new belief system and cease to question anything.
TIP 8 - Stop thinking about the food for a bit - A common fault of people following raw foods is to become focused entirely on the raw food being the answer to all their health problems. If the underlying reason for your initial health problems was purely your diet, then raw food can be the answer you are looking for, but only if you eat the right foods and your body can utilise them. If on the other hand the reason for your health problems were not simply down to diet but were partly due to other factors such as environmental and genetic reasons, then it might just be that raw food alone won't be the entire answer on its own.
TIP 9 - Focus on the positive - One of the big reasons why I think a lot of people become unhappy on what should be your road to health and happiness, is that all to easily the focus turns to all the things that are negative about your health, about your diet, about your relationships, and about the world around you.
TIP 10 - Have Realistic Expectations - There is no quicker road to unhappiness than having unrealistic expectations of what raw foods can and can't do for you. By having realistic expectations you are far more likely to experience a sense of achievement and therefore be much more likely to strive to experience more. If on the other hand you are expecting to experience all the healing benefits of raw food within weeks and don't, you may very well get disallusioned and disappointed and may even feel like giving up because raw food doesn't work for you.
