Lots of people probably think that raw food is an old concept that's been around for millions and millions of years, but that is not the case!
Raw food was actually invented in the late 1980's by David Wolfe and Stephen Arlin, and another bloke, whilst naked up an avocado tree after they had to seek out an alternative food supply after they nearly poisoned themselves with some dodgy home cooking. They became so enraged at their near death experience that they all began lashing out because of their over acidic bodies and hitting their oven causing it to explode in their kitchen, totally wrecking everything stored in their fridge freezer resulting in them having to go out and forage for wild food.
During their avocado feast they began to feel something profound going on within themselves. They had never felt so good. Despite nearly poisoning themselves with home made cooked food and their house being completely gutted after the cooker exploded, the 100% ripe, fresh, organic raw food they were eating began to have an amazingly positive effect on the trio.
It started making them feel like it was the best day ever. They became so passionate about the effect the raw food had had on them in such a short space of time that they decided to write a book about the whole subject and called it Natures First Law.
Stephen who had eaten most of the contaminated chicken, beef and lamb curry, suggested that every chapter ended with Cooked Food Is Poison to warn others of the potential harm that cooking food could have.
The gas explosion caused after they ruptured a main gas supply pipe was also the driving force behind them recommending that everyone get rid of their ovens and go raw!
The book was an instant hit and while some people had the feeling they had read something similar many years ago thousands and thousands of people started trashing their kitchens and throwing out the ovens in favour of a dehydrator.
Meanwhile on the other side of town, a then unknown Sports coach by the name of Doug Graham had a similar enlightening experience with a giant bagel and a slight bought of anafalactic shock. A chunk of begal became stuck in his wind pipe and cut off the oxygen going to his brain. Fortunately a passer bye by the name of Professor Roz Gruben gave him the Heinrik manoevre just in time and the bagel morsel flew out before any brain damage was incurred.
Doug became so enraged that he decided to warn the whole world of this possible disaster waiting to happen to everybody eating products that contain grain. He later wrote a book called Grain Damage and began touring the world informing people of these dangers.
The raw-volution had begun!
Other people came on the scene such as Anne Wigmore who discovered wheatgrass whilst out walking her dog. Nobody else had ever looked down and seen the insignificant green blades of grass covering wide expanses of open field, let alone take a bunch home and juice it in a small manual juicer she just happened to have in her kitchen!
The effects of drinking the horrible green tasting foulness were amazing! Her hair went from grey to black in a few days and she had so much energy that she started a retreat centre!
Weeks and weeks of strange UFO sightings preceded the arrival of a man who was to become known as The Grandfather of Raw Food Viktorus Kulvinskas. His knowledge of raw food was amazing. He could even do an amazing yoga pose whilst sitting crossed legged on the floor which enabled him to balance his entire weight on only two fingers!
Ann and Viktorus bonded and a chance meeting in Memphis Tenessee with a snappy dressing, bryl creamed young health fanatic called Brian Clement secured the future of what was to become the Hippocrates Health Institute.
Thanks to these people and many others raw food is now becoming more and more widely known in the main stream.
